So, here I am, just sitting in LAX. I am holding it together rather nicely, though, if I do say so myself. I just said goodbye to Aspen, and before we both started crying, we decided to seperate, since we were obviously both trying so hard not to cry. It's ok though, I'm sure once I get there, I'll have more than one good sob-fest.
I wasn't nervous at all until Aspen and finally loaded the car and started making the drive to the wondrous land of Los Angeles. And after only a FEW wrong turns (we made our debut in an all - or predominantly - black community called Inglewood or, IngleHOOD as Aspen prefers to call it) we arrived at the Airport. Which, is probably the most confusing airport I have been in by a long shot.--Which then in turn makes me feel like a retard. I tried to get to where my flight was, and apparently it was actually Air India. They had the scanners for the backpacks, and the personal wavers out, the whole she-bang, but apparently that was only for people going to India, because they took it down... Hmm wonder what the reasoning behing that was?
San Diego was great. Aspen took me to the beach one day. The three of us also explored a beautiful flower garden-type of place. There Were so many flowers! And we also did the sweet-pea maze, which was a good time for all-hah. I also went to the much drooled over by us Coloradoans, IN N' OUT Burger. It was as good as I remember. And Aspen wanted to go get donuts this morning because "they don't have donuts in New Zealand" -- please. Haha.
Anyway, I am I supposed I am going to take off. Do some classic people watching. Gigi and I used to play this game in airports trying to guess what people did as an occupation, or why they were traveling. Not as fun by oneself, but still fun to imagine up crazy scenarios. Please keep in contact though. There are many of you who I did not get to talk to before I left, but you are all on my mind. Miss you!

So, I missed your call. I thought you'd call much later than you did. But, whatever, I'm through crying a little over that ... for now. Oh hell, I'm lying, my eyes are weepin' right now.
Oh Laurel, I'm so excited for your adventure. At your age, I didn't have the courage you have, and I'm unsure if I could have done what you are doing.
Once you get settled a bit, let's do a Skype, and talk, OK?
I love you my sweet daughter,
